But if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her; for her hair is given to her for a covering. 1 Corinthians 11:15

Walter Wilson was a respected Christian physician who lived several generations ago. Though he had claimed to know God all of his life, he knew something was missing. He didn't feel any real personal intimacy with Jesus Christ. There was no power or triumph to His Christian walk. His life wasn't really impacting the world around him. Then one night, he heard a message at church that changed his entire paradigm. He realized that although he knew a lot about Jesus Christ, he had never truly surrendered his life to Him. He had been playing the game of Christianity, but had never taken Christ's words to heart: "Whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple." (Luke 14:33)

That night, he went home, fell upon his knees, and prayed this prayer:

My Lord, I have mistreated You all my life. I have treated You like a servant. When I wanted You, I called for You; when I was about to engage in something important, I beckoned You to come and help me perform my task. I have sought to use You only as a servant to help me in my self-appointed work. I will do so no more. Lord, I give You this body of mine; from my head to my feet, I give it to You. My hands, my limbs, my eyes, my brain; all that I am inside and out, I hand over to You. Live in and through me whatever life You please. You may send this body to Africa....You may blind my eyes, or send me with your message to Tibet. You may take this body to the Eskimos, or send it to a hospital bed. This body of mine is Yours alone from this moment on.

Time - Written by Scarlett Burnham (me)

It is amazing how time flies by.
We didn't even see it drive by.
Sometimes we don't understand why God has put us on this earth.
But we need to remember why.

The sky of blue and the trees of green.
What amazing things God has created for us to see.
He molded us, out of clay and dust.
And we should always trust who loves us.

Take each day, a day at a time.
Cause we can only see where the light shines.
Walk in faith and look to the light.
Jesus Christ is the only reason we are alive.

Chorus--
We are here to live, to die, to share.
What Christ has done for you and I.
He has come and died.
We become to blind.
That yesterday will become today and tomorrow will become yesterday.

Bright Lights

Bright stands for Being Radiant in Godliness, Holiness, and Testimony. The first Bright Lights group was started in 1996 by a 17-year-old young lady named Sarah Mally. The Lord had given her a desire to encourage younger girls to be strong for the Lord in their youth, and she decided to begin a discipleship group in her living room in order to give these girls vision, encouragement, and teaching in godliness.

What is a “bright light”? It is a girl who has given her life to Jesus Christ, trusting in Him alone for salvation and for the grace to live each day according to His will. It is a girl who knows how to respond "just right" to people and circumstances, demonstrating godliness in her actions and attitudes. It is a girl who has Biblical convictions and commitments (holiness), and is able to go through her teenage years strong for the Lord without stumbling as many do. It is a girl who touches the lives of others by her servant’s spirit, her radiant countenance, and the message of eternal life through Jesus Christ (testimony). God wants bright lights! There is a great need for more of them in this generation of darkness.

I have attended Bright Lights for about 2 years now. It has changed my life and my walk with the Lord. I have grown so much closer to the Lord through Bright Lights. I went to my first Bright Lights conference last April with my Bright Lights leader. It was wonderful meeting all of the Bright Light leaders and helpers. It was amazing seeing all of the young girls and ladies attending the conference!

One of my Christmas presents was a bike!!

Since I lived in the country for about 4 years my bike there was a "four-wheeler." When we moved back to the city I couldn't ride the "four-wheeler" so I asked for a bike for Christmas to ride around the neighborhood. So I got to go and pick out what kind of bike I wanted. I love vintage stuff so I wanted an vintage bike. I felt like a little kid getting her first bike! Which I do remember receiving my first bike on my 6th birthday. :)

A new season of life

Two big events happened to me this past year. I turned 18 and I graduated! :)I remember being little and thinking that it would be forever before I turned 18. I also remember being 11 years old sitting on the church pew watching my sister graduate! My how time flies! Here are a few photos from my senior photos and from my 18 birthday.

Senior photo

We had to do a fun photo.

Senior photo.

Graduation day.

We did a photo shoot before we went to my graduation party.

We decided to put my life story into cakes and cupcakes. I gathered some items of mine and we displayed it on the tables. In the photo above is the beginning of the table. Baby pink cupcakes. Also above the table my mom put some of my baby photos on scrapbooking paper and taped them on the wall. Next I have my cowgirl hat, huntin hat, then a stack of some of my books.

Then I have music notes on cupcakes, a piano, and a record player. We couldn't find a small violin to put on display. Next to that we have a farm cake. Horses and chickens on it. Then in front we put my cowgirl mug.

This cake is my history cake. 1861 and 1940.

I enjoy hunting with my dad and I did 9 years of classical ballet.

At the end of the table we had a small wedding cake topper and put a question mark on it. Cause I don't know who I am going to marry! :)

My dad sharing his words of love.

Me making my speech. As you see in the photo I am standing on a stepping stone. My parents surprised me and presented me a stepping stone to stand on as I am stepping into a new season of life. This stepping stone was also a symbol of their lives being laid down for me to walk closer with the Lord in my own life.

My friend and I had taken of photo together that past Sunday and she printed it and put it into a frame for me :)
That week I got to go roller blading! I haven't roller bladed in a long time.
As part of my 18th birthday  my mom and I drove to North AL to surprise my friend Bria.
For part of my 18th birthday I picked up 3 sisters and we went to Marble Slab for ice cream! I love that place!

Oh, Come All Ye Faithful

Christmas has come and gone. I love Christmas! I only wish it would snow down here in the south. When I sing "White Christmas" people think of snow. But I think of cotton, white icing, and white fluffy clouds. I know I haven't posted in a while. I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

We had three adorable girls come over and decorate a gingerbread house and make gingerbread cookies.

My nephew "Trey" was really excited about opening his presents.

My dad's side of the family over on Christmas Eve.

My famous peanut butter balls. I made about 115 Christmas week.

My gift to Trey. He loves watching Andy Griffith.
