This is a short story from the book So Much More.
You ( Anna Sofia ) were about five or six. I ( dad ) never told you the ending of this story. One night we were entertaining a very important travel-weary political leader. He would be staying overnight, so he and I were in the living room, talking on and on. You came over, untied my shoes and slipped them off, as you often have. You then went over to our guest and said, "Mr._____,
would you like for me to untie your shoes?"
Several years later he said to me, "You know when I decided we should have more children?
It was that night your sweet little daughter helped me with my shoes!"
One simple act of hospitality had eternal consequences. How many hundreds of thousands of souls were affected by that one evening?
The point of these stories is that you understood one of the simpler parts of your father's vision: love people, be kind to them, and take care of them according to our family's traditions of bringing them into our home, and learning from how your parents disciple them. Simply helping enthusiastically is a very powerful testimony. It is a reflection of God's order.

Bible reference of the Day
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him who have been called according to his purpose.
For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.
And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those justified, he also glorified.
Romans 8:28-30 NIV

Quote of the Day
The most important part of our task will be to tell everyone who will listen that Jesus is the only answer to the problems that are disturbing the hearts of men and nations.
We shall have the right to speak because we can tell from our experience that his light is more powerful than the deepest darkness...
How wonderful that the reality of his presence is greater than the reality of the hell about us.

Bible reference for the day
Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;
Does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;
Does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; Bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7

For Today ( August 12, 2009 )
Outside my window...
It is raining very hard.
I am thankful for...
My mom. She is the most wonderful lady. My favorite time with my mom is when we read together and go shopping at thrift stores.
From the kitchen...
My mom is fixing steak and onion roasted potatoes for supper tonight.
I am wearing...
A sky blue skirt .
I am creating...
A notebook for a friend.
I am reading...
I've just started reading ZVI. Its about a miraculous story of triumph over the Holocaust.
I am hoping...
That it won't rain this weekend.
I am hearing...
The rain on the metal roof and listening to Adventures in Odyssey
One of my favorite things...
Chocolate ( at this moment )
A few plans for the rest of the week...
I start back to piano, violin, and a homeschool chorus group this Friday.
Here is a picture thought I am sharing...
